In the wake of the State of Nature 2016 report (28 September) a coalition of 15 conservation groups has called on Welsh Government to use Brexit as an opportunity to reform farm support to further enhance the natural environment, as well as the rural economy and communities.  They claim that the CAP has failed to deliver sustainable food production or a resilient environment.  Habitat restoration, storage of atmospheric carbon, and natural management of flood risk should be given greater attention in policy.
