Weekend (and longer) trips In 2005 we visited Skomer in May to see puffins and Denmark Farm near Lampeter, a notable nature reserve, and described by the Shared Earth Trust as 'a living case study and working blueprint in the successful restoration of biodiversity to the farmed countryside'. We also visited Haugh Wood in Herefordshire, where there are rare tree species and butterflies. In 2006 we visited the Isle of Mull to see otters and white-tailed eagle, seals and deer. The location was superb and within easy distance of many wildlife sites. A weekend trip to Lundy Island was also excellent and enjoyed by all. In 2008 we are planning a week away in
Northumberland and a weekend at Greenham Common as well as a day trip to
the Island of Flat Holm in the Severn Estuary! | |||||

Philosophy Group In 2005 we launched a philosophy and debating group . We continue to meet at 7.30pm at the British Legion Club in Usk on the last Tuesday of every month. Our first speaker was Professor Ray Billington who talked about The Challenge of Philosophy. Topics covered to date have included Nothing, Pre-Socratic philosophers, emotions, death, native American philosophy, Descartes and many others! Please come along and join in the debate, discussion and argument!
