Monmouthshire recycled, reused or composted 61% of its domestic waste in the first three months of 2014, compared with 52% a year earlier – well on the way to the 70% target for 2025.  New collection arrangements helped their recycling and waste team to be named the best in the UK, but the Welsh Government and the EU are expecting more domestic separation, rather than the current co-mingling, to improve the quality of the collected material.
