Rail Services Criticised

Rail campaigners Railfuture are complaining that the Chepstow line has been neglected despite passenger numbers (and fares) growing faster than on the Valley lines north of Cardiff.  The Chepstow line now has two fewer Arriva trains per day than in 2003, despite being in the M4 corridor where use of the railway should be encouraged.  Planned new stations at Llanwern and Magor have also failed to materialise.  Welsh Government says that future options will be considered as part of the new National Transport Plan and Arriva point to increased stops at Chepstow by another franchise.
