The Welsh Assembly has rejected an amendment to the Planning Bill that would have introduced third party or community rights to appeal against planning decisions that are, for example, not in accordance with the development plan or contrary to officers’ recommendations.  A Welsh Government amendment to make the effect on the use of the Welsh language a material consideration was agreed, but not moves to require Welsh language impact statements before permissions can be granted.
