Who are we?

The Countryside Service is part of Monmouthshire County Council.

What do we do?

We work to sustain the quality and diversity of Monmouthshire's countryside and to provide opportunities for all sections of the local community and visitors to get out into the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside and also help them gain a better understanding of countryside issues. We also have statutory duties to protect and enhance the countryside. We support countryside and environmental partnerships, including the Wye Valley AONB.

We provide many countryside services, including managing public rights of way, countryside and coastal access, countryside visitor sites and facilities. We protect trees and hedgerows and conserve and enhance biodiversity and landscape.  We also provide an activities, events and education programme.

We also run Old Station Tintern and Caldicot Castle & Country Park
