Newport East AM John Griffiths, already an opponent of Edwina Hart’s M4 Relief Black Route, has suggested that public transport improvements and the closure of one of Newport’s six M4 junctions should be looked at.  He fears that the Blue Route through the city’s built up area could be a pollution and noise nuisance.  The present Southern Distributor Road, which would be upgraded to form the Blue Route, already serves as an important local access route.
