Who Should Join?

Any organisation that:

  • aims to benefits the community by promoting sustainable environmental initiatives;

  • wishes to gain strength from sharing information, resources and ideas;

  • operates within or adjacent to Monmouthshire.

Membership is open to a wide range of local active organisations in the voluntary, public and private sectors.  Each will be able to demonstrate a commitment to the well-being of the environment, using its resources only so that the interests of future generations will not be at risk.  Areas of interest are likely to include:

  • energy conservation and renewable energy;

  • reduction of land, water and air pollution;

  • sustainable waste management, including recycling;

  • 'green' transport measures and road safety;

  • biodiversity - habitat and species conservation;

  • conservation of the quality of our landscape;

  • use of local products, such as food and timber

  • organic farming and reduced use of agro-chemicals;

  • 'green' tourism;

  • education and public awareness in these areas;

  • and more!

Whatever your organisation does, whether it is a national charity, a small village group, an environmental consultancy, or whatever, if you feel that GreenWeb can help you, go to Applying to Join.

We are not a campaigning body and recognise that members may not be unanimous in their views.  We offer members a chance to exchange and publicise their opinions in a responsible manner.

GreenWeb has no membership fee for the first year or the greater part thereof; thereafter it is currently £25 p.a.  We intend to rely as much as possible on help in kind and from volunteers from our member organisations, together with grant aid and other income.

Benefits of Membership

Your exploration of this web site will have demonstrated most of these, but they can be summarised as:

  • a page for your organisation on this web site, together with links to any other appropriate web site;

  • the opportunity to contribute to the Newsletter, Bulletin and Events Diary;

  • the consequent benefits of pooling information and opinion on environmental matters, reducing isolating and promoting the capacity of the membership to work together;

  • reaching a wider audience via the web site, which will be publicised, and a periodical printed newsletter distributed via council officers, libraries etc;

  • training if necessary in the use of e-mails, the internet, and setting up and amending your web page;

  • the right to vote and otherwise influence and contribute to GreenWeb affairs.

Applying to Join

Organisations must submit an application together with some evidence from their constitution, a published policy statement or similar that they share the GreenWeb commitment to environmental conservation or sustainability.  The names of the organisation's representative on the association (and any alternative) will be required, together with the person responsible for day-to-day contact (preferably by e-mail).  Organisations will also be asked to confirm agreement to the GreenWeb Terms and Conditions.  Applicants will normally be approved quickly and we will contact you to encourage you to create your own web page, establish your training needs and involve you in GreenWeb services.

If your organisation wishes to join please Contact the GreenWeb Coordinator for an application form or to discuss your eligibility or any other query, or download the application form here , print it off, sign it, and return it to the address on page 2 of the form.  If you are a business and want to join our Green Directory, please download and complete this application form.
