About Us ...
Here you
will find some background information about
GreenWeb, together with links to our Constitution
plus how to join and contact us. |
Background
Monmouthshire GreenWeb was inspired by the example
of a similar project in Herefordshire. A small
committee was formed to take the project forward and
GreenWeb was formally constituted as a voluntary
organisation in 2001. A grant of £2,000 from
Monmouthshire County Council, together with the
contribution of the Council's Local Agenda 21
Community Officer, as GreenWeb Secretary, enabled us
to commission the design of a web site which went
live in 2002.
Since then our membership has
grown to about 50 organisations, this web site has been
improved, and we have now added a directory of
local suppliers of green goods and services together
with tips on adopting a more green and ethical
lifestyle. Our funding has shifted from grant
dependency to income from services provided to
others and from membership subscriptions, plus
volunteer effort.
Constitution
This constitution was adopted on 26th September
2001. Each member organisation must appoint an
individual to represent it at meetings of the
association (and may appoint an alternate member).
Thus all member organisations, regardless of size,
have equal representation. An annual general meeting
must be held which will elect an executive committee
and receive an annual report and accounts. Please
