HEALTH

I joined GAVO
in August 2004 having spent the previous 24 years working in a variety
of different roles within the dept of Work and Pensions. My post is
currently funded by Welsh Assembly Government in response to the
recommendations contained in the 'Building Strong Bridges' report
(2002).The report highlighted the need for the NHS in Wales to maximise
the contribution of the voluntary sector. I work closely with colleagues
from the local health board and local authority on a wide range of
issues.
My key aim is to strengthen partnership working by creating
opportunities for voluntary and community groups to participate in the
planning and delivery of health and social care services
throughout Monmouthshire. To this end, I co-ordinate a health and social
care network, providing a forum to raise issues of concern and stimulate
discussion on a variety of topics.
If you would
like to know more about the network, please get in touch with me.
