Small yellow underwing moth, which has a ‘local’ distribution, photographed at Vauxhall Meadow May 2015.

A public bioblitz in Monmouth, taking place at Vauxhall Fields, Vauxhall Meadows, Drybridge Nature Park and Two River Meadow.  All activities are FREE.

This is a great opportunity to explore the wildlife at well known green spaces right on the doorstep for Monmouth residents and other local people.  You can take part in a canoe safari, pond dipping, meet species experts, go on a guided walk, take part in a minibeast safari, find out about slugs and snails and much more besides as we find and identify as much local wildlife as we can in a single day and attempt to record it all.  Species experts will be on hand to help with identification, and will be leading various timetabled or drop-in activities throughout the day.  Contact Sue Parkinson for a programme, or pick one up in town before the event from Monmouth One Stop Shop.  Visit the marquee by Tibbs footbridge, limited parking will be available off Cowlings Lane, at Drybridge Nature Park, or park in Blestium Street car park to walk to Two River Meadow by the allotments.  Timetable of events:
