‘Before you finish eating breakfast you’ve depended on more than half the world’.  This is the theme for this year’s Fairtrade Fortnight which runs from 29 February to 13 March.  Over this period look out for special offers on Fairtrade products in the shops.

In keeping with the theme, Monmouth Fairtrade Forum will be holding a Fairtrade Breakfast / Coffee Shop on Saturday 5 March from 9.30 till noon at Monmouth Priory.  There will be Fairtrade fruit + cereals + drinks for breakfast, + the usual array of homemade cakes using Fairtrade ingredients.

While the Fairtrade movement is usually associated with paying producers in developing countries a fair price, we extend the fair price principle to local producers so it will be local milk, butter, bread / toast, jam + marmalade.

There will be a stall selling Fairtrade products and, as it’s Spring, there will be a Transition Monmouth Swap Shop for seeds + plants, together with tools from Tools for Self Reliance Cymru to help you get your garden supplies stocked up.
