Following a review, Network Rail has announced that the electrification of the Great Western main line from Paddington to Cardiff will be completed by 2019 but the extension to Swansea will now take until 2024.  New trains will be available from 2017, ahead of electrification.  The Department of Transport has reiterated its contribution to Valley Lines electrification.
