Householders may be asked to separate their glass from the plastics and metals in their purple bags in a pilot scheme in North Monmouthshire this summer. This further separation would bring the county closer to Welsh Government recommendations, and is already practised by half of Welsh councils.  Separation of glass could halve the money paid by the council to waste collectors.
