Minutes of the A&C FoE meeting - 19th July 2010.

Present: Jackie Bradshaw, Paul Clifford, Laurie Jones, Barry and Jayne Greenwood, Keith White.
Apologies received from Sue Harrison, Lynette Green and Rod Walters.

  1. The Climate Champions meeting was held and Paul Matthews, Chief Executive Officer of MCC was there. It was very positive, with Paul Matthews announcing a major new initiative by MCC which cannot be revealed fully just yet. Those at the meeting were very excited by it.

Wormtec are to build an anaerobic digester plant at Newport - something FoE has long campaigned for. Again - good news.

Jackie reported that Abergavenny's contribution to these meetings is usually less impressive than those of Chepstow and Monmouth, but at this meeting Abergavenny held its own as there is now so much going on here among a number of groups - it's no longer just FoE. For a full report email Jackie. More good news.

  2. New joint ACA/FoE energy group A joint meeting was held at Jackie's house attended by Catrin Ellis-Jones, who is a local energy facilitatior. It was decided that there should be two separate groups, the first focussing on promoting domestic energy and small-scale schemes, and the second should tackle a major local renewable energy project. Catrin has one in mind, but it cannot be revealed just yet. Barry was "persuaded" to join the second group and said he would go to the first meeting to see if he could offer anything the group needed.

On the first group, everybody is asked to share their knowledge and experience of renewables - Jackie to call a meeting. The second group will first meet on 26th July. All this is good news.

  3. Community Environmental Grants Closing date for applications is 4th August.

  4. Greenweb survey Much discussion. Jackie to ask Simon if he would do our Greenweb website.

  5. FoE financial problems and strategy It was agreed this would go on the agenda for the next meeting. Action Jackie.

  6. MCC survey To be deferred to next meeting as Jackie had lost the relevant form.

  7. AOB
    1. Jayne to send a reminder to those who haven't paid their subs for 2010.
