Local Agenda 21 Grants 

Environment & Countryside Grant Scheme.

Community groups within Monmouthshire can apply for up to £1,000 to help develop a project that will benefit both local people and local wildlife. 

Projects which have been funded in previous years include:

  • Wildlife gardens in public parks

  • Improving local footpaths

  • Producing leaflets of local walks

  • Growing and planting trees

  • A play about damage to the natural world.

Deadline for applications is the 11th September 2007.  Click here for an application form.

Community Pride Grant Scheme.

Community groups within Monmouthshire can apply for up to £1,000 to help towards a project that will foster pride in their local area.  Every community is different and to maintain that diversity and individuality people need to identify and celebrate what is special about their locality.

  • Projects that have been funded in previous years include:

  • Restoration of a local monument

  • Production of a parish map or local history guide

  • Production of mosaics and wall hangings

  • Insulating a studio for a community radio station

  • Tidying up local open spaces

Schools Sustainable Grant Scheme

Grants of up to £1,000 available for schools for sustainable projects such as:

Energy  - raising awareness and reducing energy use.

Recycling – creating recycling amenities in the school.

Grounds improvement – wildlife areas, sculpture paths, organic gardening.

Transport – setting up walking buses, bicycling projects.

Community – art projects, local history, visiting theatres.

Biodiversity

Grants of up to £1,000 available for individuals and community groups for projects that:

  • Enhance or create important habitats

  • Undertake work to increase the numbers of important species

Grants for 2006/07 have now been allocated.
